With the reality of global warming, the collapsing of our ecosystems of which we are a part, and the addictive focus of an on-screen presence, there is a growing recognition of the importance of finding solace by entering the open doors of the forest sanctuary. Walking the forest floor is a primal event, long-ago embedded in our psyche, which releases stress and increases our exuberance for life, brought forth by mindfulness of the beauty, sounds, textures and scents of the environment.
The small studies above express the "spaces" found in nature, such as the canopy of an overhead tree. The studies will be painted into large format oils on panel. More "spaces" are planned for this series.
